Removing the “Powered by Shopify” text from the default footer at the bottom-left of the page can improve your website’s appearance.
The change takes little work and can noticeably affect the site’s look and feel.
It helps your audience understand who you are and what your team stands for.

Remove “Powered by Shopify” from the footer early when setting up a new Shopify store.
Without the “Powered by Shopify” label, your branding looks more consistent and shoppers face less confusion. The footer also looks tidier and no longer reveals that Shopify powers the store.
Use Edit code or Edit languages to remove “Powered by Shopify” from the footer. Both methods are straightforward.
Third-party themes replace “Powered by Shopify” with their own branding, if any. These removal methods may not work on those themes.

How To Remove Powered By Shopify From Your Store’s Footer

1. Log In To Shopify Admin
Sign in to your store through the Shopify login page.
Open Themes under Online Store.
In the centre pane, open the Actions dropdown and choose Edit code.
The example store uses Shopify’s free “Debut” theme. These steps also work with every official Shopify online store theme.
2. Select Your Footer.Liquid Theme File
Find the {/} footer.liquid file in Sections.
3. Edit Code To Remove Powered By Shopify
Allow a few seconds for the footer.liquid file code to load in “edit code”.
After it loads, press Ctrl+F or Command+F on an Apple device to open the browser’s “find in page” bar.
Search for “powered” and press Enter.
The page moves to the “Powered by Shopify” text in the theme code.
Delete “Powered by Shopify” from this block while leaving everything else unchanged.
Remove the curly braces and everything inside them: {{ powered_ by_ link }}
Debut contains three places where “Powered by Shopify” needs to be removed.
The page displays “Powered by Shopify” only once, but the theme includes several versions for different page setups.
Remove each occurrence of “Powered by Shopify” inside curly braces in footer.liquid. Any remaining occurrence may appear later as you set up the theme.
After removing “Powered by Shopify” throughout the code, click Save.
Visit the store after clicking Save to check the result.
If the footer still displays “Powered by Shopify”, look through the theme for any remaining {{ powered_ by_ link }}.
Remove the braces as well as the “powered by link” text.
4. Entirely Remove Powered By Shopify Footer (Optional)
The other method removes “Powered by Shopify” without editing code.
It takes less effort, though the result is not as clean as editing the theme script.
Sign in to the store through the Shopify login page.
Under Online Store, open Themes.
Open the menu beneath Actions and choose Edit languages.
Search for “Powered” in the “Filter translations” bar near the top to find every “Powered by Shopify” occurrence.
Shopify shows its prefilled default text in a faded style.
In the “Footer” box, replace “Powered by Shopify” with one space. Click Save beside Filter translations.
The space remains in the store’s text, but visitors cannot see it.
